Insulated Food Delivery Bags - Choosing the correct product

Posted by Gus Norman on

Insulated Food Delivery Bags are essential to maintain the temperature and quality of your food. There are many different shapes and sizes when it comes to food delivery bags. Most businesses or delivery drivers tend to buy several different sizes, as one size doesn't always fit all. It is not practical to buy one insulated bag to transport an 18" pizza one minute and then a McDonald's order the next, so we tend to see a selection of sizes purchased.

You can view the range of thermal bags, with Express Delivery here.

The most popular sizes tend to be the multi purpose bags. These tend to be ideal for 10 or 12" pizza's and also fish and chip boxes, Chinese foods etc. If you buy an insulated delivery bag with a zipped opening, make sure there are 2 zip pulls and the zips need to be 10mm for easy opening. Many cheaper insulated bags only have 8mm zips and they can be hard to open and break easily. Take Eat Away on supply insulated bags with 10mm zips.

Most insulated food delivery bags will keep food warm for around 30 minutes, which is generally longer than most delivery times. This is fine for Cities and large Towns, however for more remote areas or for outside catering, you may require a thermal box. A thermal box made from EPP will tend to keep the contents warm for up to 4 hours.

From a hygiene point of view, it is generally recommended to replace your food delivery bags on a regular basis. There is nothing worse than watching a delivery driver approach your front door with a filthy insulated bag. This is what Take Eat Away aimed to do in 2011, by developing a core range of affordable food delivery bags in the UK. We understand the bags will need to be replaced if they are being used 10 to 30 times each and everyday.

According to Statista.com £8.5 Billion was spent on food delivery in the UK in 2019 (see link at the bottom of the page for more information).
